MUEHLNER MOTORSPORTS AMERICA ANNOUNCES NEW SPONSORSHIP
DELAND, Fla. (April 18, 2014) – Muehlner Motorsports America is pleased to welcome two additional sponsors to their team’s lineup; Popcorn Sutton’s Tennessee White Whiskey and Drive Capital. Both companies will join forces with Mark Kvamme on the No. 19 Porsche 911 GT America, who has signed on for four more races.
“I am very happy to welcome back Popcorn Sutton’s Tennessee White Whiskey,” said Managing Director, Bernhard Mühlner. “They joined us as a team sponsor at Daytona. I would also like to welcome Drive Capital as a new partner. I feel the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship is an excellent platform for both companies. The IMSA flagship has the same target group that they have and the fans will follow our partners in the similar way they follow our team and drivers. This will be a win-win situation for everyone.”
Nashville-based Popcorn Sutton’s Tennessee White Whiskey began with Marvin “Popcorn” Sutton. Prior to starting the company, he was a third-generation moonshiner. Popcorn passed his secret recipes onto Jamey Grosser, who is now the Master Distiller. The brand is well known throughout the South and is looking forward to once again joining the racing community.
The second sponsor joining Muehlner Motorsports America is Drive Capital. Drive Capital invests in innovative technology, healthcare, and consumer companies in the Midwest. Their goal is to partner with entrepreneurs that have audacious goals and strive to build large sustainable companies.
Kvamme has signed on with Muehlner Motorsports America to race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Circuit of the Americas and Road Atlanta for the Petit Le Mans the remainder of the 2014 season.
“We are happy to have Mark (Kvamme) with us for additional races in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship,” added Mühlner. “He knows the car and the team and can directly concentrate on finding a good speed at Laguna Seca. His driving skills at Daytona helped to finish the race safely. Following our result at Sebring, our No. 19 Porsche is 12th out of 29 GTD cars, so we are focusing on gathering more points as the season continues.”
He last drove for MMA in the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona, where he and his co-drivers finished 20th in the GTD class, after starting 57th overall.
“Many thanks to Muehlner Motorsports for a great race at Daytona,” said Kvamme. “The professionalism of the management and energy of the drivers makes for a wonderful team. I am really looking forward to joining the team again for four more races this year!”
In their last event at Sebring International Raceway, the No. 19 entry came home P16 out of 29 GTD cars thanks to their “Never Give Up” attitude following a well-fought battle due to brake complications. The No. 18 entry driven by MMA drivers Earl Bamber and Nico Verdonck was unfortunately involved in an accident in the Thursday night practice and was unable to start the race due to unsolvable repairs. Due to the car setup, the team felt Bamber would have been able to qualify the car within the Top Five.
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is the next event for Muehlner Motorsports, which will take place on May 4th at the historic Monterey, California circuit.
ABOUT MUEHLNER MOTORSPORTS AMERICA
Mühlner Motorsport has become a significant global player in the world of professional motorsports since their early days in 1978 when Bernhard Mühlner and his brother Hartmut built their first competition Volkswagen Golf GT1 Rally race car. Originally founded in Germany the team moved its headquarters in 1998 to Spa-Francorchamps, home of the famous F1 Grand Prix track nestled in the heart of the Belgium Ardennes forest. From this base of operations the team prospered and expanded their activities worldwide, finding success racing in Europe, Asia and the Middle-East.
Mühlner Motorsport has become a close-knit, family operated and highly professional race organization, under the direction of the husband and wife team of Bernhard and Renate-Carola assisted by their son Martin and daughter Michelle.
To date the team has earned about 250 podium finishes, more than 100 victories and eight Championships and Mühlner Motorsport is now recognized as one of the world’s most successful race teams in existence. The hunger for even broader success led in 2010 to the establishment of a new division, Muehlner Motorsports America, LLC, with headquarters in DeLand, Florida close to the iconic Daytona International Speedway.
